It was a tough day on the diamond for Oklahoma State softball as they lost to 10-2 to Bedlam rivals Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament championship game.

With the loss, the Cowgirls drop to 42-9 on the season. Pitcher Carrie Eberle picked up the loss, moving to 21-3 on the season. She went 4.2 innings giving up 10 hits, eight runs, seven of which were earned, with four walks and two strikeouts.

The Cowgirls combined for six hits on the all, all coming from six different hitters.

Eberle had a rough bottom half of the first inning as she allowed three runs, all of them earned, on two hits and a wild pitch. The bottom of the second was much calmer as she retired the side, which lead to a bases loaded situation for the Cowgirls in the top of the third, but catcher Reagan Wright hit into a double play to end the inning.

Eberle struggled out of the gate in the bottom of the third as she gave up a leadoff homer Sooner catcher Kinzie Hansen, then a double on the next at bat. The Sooners would put one more run across on a squeeze bunt, before the Eberle got out of the inning with a pop fly to left leaving the bases loaded.

The Sooners put another run across in the bottom of the four, taking the scoring up to 6-0, but the Cowgirls fought back in the top of the fifth. Kiley Naomi and Alysen Febrey both hit solo shots to get the game back within four, 6-2.

Things got even more hairy for the Cowgirls in the bottom of the fifth as the Sooners loaded the bases once again and got within just two runs of a run rule finish, 8-2. After a pitching change to Kelly Maxwell, the Cowgirls were able to get out of the inning.

However, the Sooners were able to put two more across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the 10-2 run rule win.

Maxwell went one inning giving up two hits, two earned runs with two walks and one strikeout.

The Cowgirls will find out their destination in the 2021 NCAA tournament Sunday evening as the selection show is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

the Ladies looked "up tight" from the git-go.

Our B12 Pitcher of the Year gave up 3 in the first, and she never really dominated. All-be-it, the goons were fortunate to hit some bloopers that our team could not come up with.

Pennington at 3rd has been really solid down the stretch, including that clutch throw in the Texas game, but committed 3 straight flubs to keep the goons out front in this contest.

Then 2 Cowgirl innings with the bases loaded and one out, only to come up with nothing, which included hitting into a double play, which, according to the announcers, is fairly rare in softball.

We had been the only B12 team to not be run-ruled by the goons...

It was just not to be for OSU in that contest.
