Steve Sarkisian Looking To Bring Texas Back to the Front of College Football

ARLINGTON, Tx – It’s been an uphill battle for Texas since winning the 2005 National Championship. Sure, they consistently bring in some of the best prospects from around the country. They have donors donating obscene amounts of money and are consistently upgrading facilities.

However, since Mack Brown left in 2013, they’ve had three head coaches and a 48-39 record.

Steve Sarkisian definitely has a winning pedigree. His teams have been to four CFB championships games, while winning two of them. However, Sark doesn’t believe he’s going to enter into the program and there be immediate success. He’s trying to rebuild the program and the culture from the ground up.

“I think at the end of the day, when you think of the University of Texas, you think resources, great recruiting, recruitability, big stadiums, great education,” said Steve Sarkisian. “The point I’ve been trying to make is focus on us and what we’re doing, not necessarily what didn’t work before, but what are we gonna do to make it work this time. The point of all that is we can’t sit back and relax and think because we’ve got a great stadium, because we’ve got great resources, because we’ve got the five-star and four-star players, that we just sprinkle a little magical fairy dust and all of a sudden, we’re a really good football team. Winning is hard and winning takes work and takes perseverance, winning takes grit and take great teamwork and great leaders and great teammates and an awesome culture. Those are the things we’re working on to make sure we put ourselves in position to be as successful as we can be, not even just the short term, but for the long term.”
