Stillwater Stars Fall in Game Two of Wichita Regionals

After coming back from a 23-point deficit against The Enchantment on Saturday night, the Stillwater Stars found themselves in a similar hole against No. 1 Eberlein Drive. However, a comeback wasn’t in the cards for the Stars as they fell 119-67.

It was a fast start to the game for both sides as they combined for 35 points in the first five minutes, Eberlein Drive with a 22-13 lead going into the first media timeout of the game. Eberlein Drive was electric to start the game as they shot 8-for-10 from the field in the first five minutes of the first quarter, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range.

They’d finished the first quarter as strong as they started it as they finished on an 21-1 run, hitting their last seven buckets, going up 39-14 at the buzzer.

Jeffrey Carroll scored his first six points of the game in the opening minute of the second quarter on back-to-back 3-pointers, but aside from two made free throws in the final minute, those would be his only points for the remainder of the half.

The Stars entered the half trailing Eberlein Drive by 36-points. Michael Qualls led the way for the orange and black with 16 points on 5-of-8 shoot. Jeffrey Carroll was next with eight points on 2-of-7 shooting. After putting up 18 points on Saturday, Markel Brown struggled against Eberlein Drive as he entered the half with just three points and five fouls.

Qualls finished with 20 points and Brown and Carroll finished with 11 points apiece.

Things went from bad to worse for the Stars in the second half as Eberlein Drive extend its lead up to 54-points just under the eight-minute mark of the fourth quarter, 103-49.

The Elam Ending was put into effect late in the fourth quarter and was set at 119, leading to a 119-67 win for Eberlein Drive.
