Oklahoma State Flips Commitment of Massive Texas OL Calvin Harvey

Boom! Oklahoma State has flipped the commitment of 6’8 330-pound offensive lineman Calvin Harvey!

Harvey, the now former Louisiana Tech commit, is out of Missouri City Ridge Point High School. He holds 10 offers in his recruitment with the latest being when Oklahoma State jumped into the mix in August.

Harvey is coming off a three-day official visit in Stillwater, which is what ultimately helped him make his decision. It was at the end of that visit that he confirmed to Mike Gundy that he was going to be a Cowboy.

I talked with Harvey at the very end of his visit how everything went and here is what he said:

“The game was awesome; it was a great opportunity to witness something like that! The conversations with the coaches went excellent, talked a lot about the future and opportunities. The visit opened my eyes to maybe a new future and allows me to see something I’ve never seen before.”

It was not long after he sent this message that he had his conversation with Gundy making it official. His next step in the process was letting the Louisiana Tech staff know of his decision before making it public.

Harvey is a three-star prospect but provides a great deal of upside due to the athleticism that he provides at his size. He has played left and right tackle for Ridge Point so the assumption right now would be that it is possible he could play either in Stillwater.

Harvey has been on the radar for this coaching staff for quite a while. They were first able to get eyes on him when they were recruiting now true-freshman wide receiver John Paul-Richardson, who also went to Ridge Point. Harvey was scheduled to be on campus for some camps prior to this visit but COVID and some injuries prevented that.

This commitment marks the 15th total for the Cowboys in the 2022 class, the 10th on the offensive side of the ball. Harvey also shores up a position of need in this recruiting cycle for the Pokes. Just a few weeks ago, there was only one commitment with not much movement from targets but now there are three pledges on the offensive line, two high school and one junior college prospect.

With the addition of Harvey, the offensive line position is most likely done for the 2022 cycle, which also means the offensive class overall is complete. There is one (1) quarterback, two (2) running backs, three (3) wide receivers, one (1) cowboy back, and three (3) offensive linemen.
