The Word According to Godlevske - Chapter 12 Becomes Injury Report

This is the 12th in a series of journals that will last all season coming from Oklahoma State starting center Danny Godlevske. The “super senior” graduate transfer from Miami of Ohio, originally out of Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, Ind. Godlevske is a first-year player in the Oklahoma State and was not subject to do media interviews under head coach Mike Gundy’s first-year player interview rule until recently being released by the head coach. With name, image, and likeness we were able to lock in and have a player participate in having a journal and Cowboys fans met Danny here at Pokes Report.

Sadly, the hero of our NIL journal has been injured and will miss the game at Texas Tech on Saturday. Godlevske will be back with the Cowboys this season as his injury is not season ending. This would have been his 51st start in his college career, but he’ll get a chance to make that.

So, now in a way, our journal The Word According to Godlevske has become an injury update prior to the No. 9 Cowboys game with Texas Tech. Yes, the feature is coming out later than normal this week, but that was insisted on by Godlevske himself, as he did not want to give out injury information before game day that would allow the Red Raiders to make any adjustments. It is why Pokes Report and the other entity that I work for, the Cowboy Radio Network, never release injury information until right before the game.

Okay, Godlevske is out with a foot injury. Left guard Josh Sills, who missed last week’s game with a foot injury traveled with the team and is back. Running back Jaylen Warren, who came out of the game early against TCU but was cleared to go back in, if needed, is good to go for the Texas Tech game. There are other offensive players with injuries, but they are good to go, and we won’t put out any injury information on players that are playing.

Defensively, the Cowboys are healthy and that includes safety Tre Sterling, who suited up for the TCU game last week but did not play. Sterling is more ready to play this week and will likely get some back-up action against Texas Tech.

Okay, with the injury update out of the way. Here was Danny’s message this week.

The Word According to Godlevske – Chapter 12

TCU game was awesome. We had a great week of preparation. I thought our team was really focused and we know that we have to take things week-by-week because we have big things ahead of us, all of our goals and everything that we’ve worked for since January. TCU, we prepared really hard, and I thought it was our first complete game as an offense. Gosh, we showed how explosive that we can be as an offense, and how good we can play when we are playing all together.

It was a really fun game. Right before half, I think it was when Blaine Green scored his touchdown, I rolled my foot up a little bit and it’s just part of the game. I injured my foot, and I knew there was something weird with it. I just went off on the sideline and I told Doc (Dr. Iven). We were precautionary about it because we were up, I think 28-3 at the time. We knew Joe Michalski, my back-up, great player and great guy could get the job done. (Editor’s Note: Pro Football Focus had Michalski grading over 90 for his time in the game)

We took it easy there and went in the locker room and got diagnosed and figured it all out.

It is tough. Growing up it was my nature because I’m so competitive and that is who I am. It is hard to watch from the sidelines. Being a six-year guy and having been through the process of having injuries and stuff, I’ve kind of matured and grown to realize that sometimes my impact can even be more significant on the sidelines as a leader.

That is kind of the role I’m stepping into for now. It is tough to watch but it will be a good thing for me and for the team for me to be there for them. I want to support the guys along the way until I can be back out there.

It is going to be weird this weekend not playing at Texas Tech, but I believe in my boy Joe and everything that he can do and everything that he has been working toward. He’s been progressing every week and he is a helluva player and helluva kid. I’m really excited to watch him play and support him from the couch this weekend. I think we are going to go into Texas Tech and do a helluva job. I think the O-line is going to play their best game of all season.
