STILLWATER – A terribly sad story came to light on social media Sunday evening as the Oklahoma State Cowboy baseball Twitter site reported that Nathan Rogalski, a talented pitcher and first baseman from Edmond Deer Creek had passed away after a sudden illness.

There were no details on exactly what happened or just how the illness transpired. Apparently, Rogalski was getting treatment and a GoFundMe page had been established in his name to help with expenses.

The 6-2, 190-pound young athlete was very popular with his teammates, coaches, teachers, and staff at Deer Creek. He had lots of God-given talent on the diamond, but Oklahoma State baseball head coach Josh Holliday had lots of appreciation for Rogalski for the young man that he was.

"We are heartbroken. Nate was a talented kid with a great personality — his excitement for life, his love for the game and his personal talents made him a special young man and we were excited about his future here at Oklahoma State," Holliday expressed in the Twitter message.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time. Nate will always be part of our Cowboy baseball family,” Holliday concluded in the message.

Perfect Game, the baseball rating and evaluation site, had this to say about Rogalski after he participated in their 2020 junior showcase.

Nathan Rogalski is a 2023 LHP/1B with a 6-1 188 lb. frame from Oklahoma City, OK who attends Deer Creek HS. Recorded a 7.63 second 60-yard dash time. Large frame with broad shoulders and physical projection remaining. Primary lefthanded pitcher with a leg lift up past the belt. Full hands over head delivery with a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball worked up to 85 mph with cutting life. Solid bite to the curveball with good tilt and flashed a changeup. Arm strength plays from secondary position of first base. Lefthanded hitter with a high hand set, high back elbow, and an even stance. Leg lift trigger into the swing with a middle of the field approach. Some contact skills out in front. Great student. Verbal commitment to Oklahoma State.
