STILLWATER – As we have heard so many times during NCAA Championship events the public service announcement that the vast majority of student-athletes will be going pro in something other than sports. So it goes and the NCAA Transfer Portal odyssey is over for Oklahoma State offensive center/guard Tyrese Williams. Williams took to Twitter to announce in “kind of” a football commitment style post that he is done with his football career and after graduating from Oklahoma State University and the Spears School of Business that he is committed to Dell Technologies in Round Rock, Texas as a technology sales specialist.

He started his Twitter post with, “ready to start this new chapter!”

He added this message:

What a ride it has been the last four years in Stillwater. The relationships I’ve built, the experiences I’ve journeyed, and the fan base that has supported me will never be forgotten. To my coaching staff, thanks for molding me into the man I am today and I will forever embrace the Cowboy culture as I take on this next chapter in my life. The decision was tough, however has been set in stone since entering the portal. I felt it was time to venture into new beginnings and take with me what I’ve accomplished at Oklahoma State University. Graduating from the Spears School of Business, I will be joining the Dell Technologies team in Round Rock, Tx as a technology sales specialist.

Forever Loyal and True

Tyrese Williams

Williams came out of Cy-Ridge High School in the Houston area and red-shirted in 2018 before playing in one game against McNeese State as a sophomore in 2019. While players were all sent home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams made the news by training with a harness on his upper torso and pulling a dually pickup around his neighborhood.

Williams was groomed as a backup center and eventual starter there but he did struggle with the snaps some. He played in five games in the 2020 season.

Before the 2021 season, Williams was moved to playing more guard and at 6-2, 300-pounds was undersized but tough in the trenches. Williams started two games in the 2021 season and came out of the Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame listed as the spring starter at left guard. Then he went into the transfer portal. He told Pokes Report that he was looking for a school where he would be more certain as a starter in 2022.

He really was the most damaging portal departure prior to spring. Now, he turns pro in something other than football and with his OSU degree. That is a success story!
