STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has been busy trying to lock down its future non-conference slate. Well, at least one weekend in 2026.

According to a report from FBSchedules.com, who obtained the contract between the two schools via an open records request from Murray State, the Cowboys have scheduled a home game against Murray State.

The game is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 19, 2026, with the Racers receiving $450,000 to make their way to Stillwater.

If this game happens, it will be the first time the Cowboys have faced the Racers in football.

The 2026 non-conference scheduled looks to be a fun one as it marks the second of the two games played between the Cowboys and the Oregon Ducks. That series is scheduled to begin in Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon on Sept. 6, 2025, with the return trip back to Stillwater taking place on Sept. 12, 2026.

The Cowboys are currently scheduled to open the 2026 season on the road in Tulsa against the Golden Hurricane.

Since Chad Weiberg re-joined the athletic department in 2017, Cowboy football has seen its future non-conference schedule beefed up. Sure, there’s still the Arkansas Pine-Bluffs and Central Arkansas’s, and will most certainly always be, but the Pokes are scheduled to face multiple D1-P5 schools in the coming years, including Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Oregon.

There’s still a LOT of time between now and when the Pokes begin more than half of those series, such as Alabama in 2028, the bulk of the Arkansas games, Nebraska in 2034-35 and Colorado in 2036-37, so a lot could still happen. However, things are definitely headed in the right direction.
