Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From UNLV OL Noah McKinney

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State just landed a commitment from UNLV offensive line transfer, Noah McKinney.

McKinney was in Stillwater this weekend on an official visit and committed to the Cowboy coaching staff before leaving campus. He marks the second offensive line transfer commitment for Dickey and Co., as he joins Texas State transfer, Dalton Cooper.

McKinney, who checks in at 6-5, 290-pounds, redshirted this past season as a freshman for Rebels before entering the portal following the dismissal of head coach Marcus Arroyo at the end season. In fact, Arroyo is the one who got McKinney and the Cowboy coaching staff in touch with one another as Arroyo is helping all his former players who are in the portal find new schools.

While he graduated from Coronado HS in Henderson, NV, McKinney moved there from Carrollton, TX, where he attended Hebron. ESPN ranked him as the No. 16 overall prospect out of Nevada in the 2022 class and the No. 140 overall offensive tackle in the country in the class.

While at Coronado, McKinney was a two-time first team all-league selection, while also picking up a second team All-State selection.

McKinney is now the seventh transfer commitment for the Pokes, the second offensive line transfer and the fourth offensive commit, joining Washington State WR De’Zhaun Stribling, Western Michigan RB Sean Tyler, Texas State OL Dalton Cooper, Tulsa LB Justin Wright, Tulsa DL Anthony Goodlow and Arkansas State DB Kenneth Harris.

A RSFresh with zero reps at the D1 level?

I'm sure we can use him, apparently just not next year.

They lost at least 3 reserves they needed to replace. I'm sure he will have a big opportunity to start in a year or two.

Well, they kept this one under wraps for sure, there were at least four unpublicized players who came in and we got two of them in this kid and the corner out of Arkansas State! Interesting how they worked in a stealthy manner! It looks like he was recruited by UNLV, Syracuse, New Mexico and Arizona State out of high school as a three star so he was definitely on the recruiting radar coming out of high school!

yeah, I get all of that, but all of our discussions were about fixing the line right now, this year.

perhaps Coach Gundy is not as concerned about the 2023 OLine as some on the forums are.

Dalton Cooper is a "right now" remedy, moving Brooks inside has helped, the return of Birmingham is a big deal, and Savigon(sp.)Washington (or another lineman of equal caliber) could still get on board. And, perhaps, Noah is more ready than folk speculate. I am convinced that our recruitment team is exquisitely aware of our needs.

lot's of maybe's in there.... and I agree our recruitment team (e.g. Gundy) is more aware of our needs than the message board bashers, which is what I said, I believe.

We have a plethora of kids that redshirted on the OLine this past year, and several more that were RSFreshmen that will be RS Sophs. Gundy likes to take kids from transfer that have several years of eligibility left, so this one is no real surprise; but we have kids that are projected to be ahead of him already... hence the future.

I only said anything because some of the folks on the board were reacting like he was a plug in starter, and didn't appear to notice that he had not played one down at the collegiate level.

Keep a real close eye on two freshmen in the Spring, Austin Kaiwicki and Davis Dotson, both could surpass current guys on the O line and see a lot of playing time next year!

Michalski was playing Center in 2021 after Godlevske got injured. He started at Center the last 3-4 games, including against ND in the Bowl Game, and appeared to do fine. He was the backup to Wilson in 2022. He's been rotating in at Center over 2 years now, and started 4 games.

but yeah, we definitely need someone designated in that role, and prepared.

2021 (Sophomore): A first team Academic All-Big 12 honoree ... Played in all 14 games and earned the first four starts of his career in the final four games of the season ... Mostly played special teams and rotated in at center until he took over at center when starter Danny Godlevske went down to injury ... OSU's coaches credited him with four pancake blocks and six knockdowns.

Nothing personal against Michalski , he was also the center in 2021 CCG, blew up by Siaki Ika on most of the plays. And the center game in second half of season was soo bad. so, Michalski doesn't incite confidence. Now, he can get better in off season, and be a beast. But, that's assumption.

I'm going to call BS on that and move on.

Ika got a double team from every team BU played, because he's that good. We played that game without Warren.

Ika's stats were almost identical when Godlevske started and when Michalske started. 4 total tackles, .5 sacks. He did have 2 more TFL in the conf champ game, but those were out of the 4 total tackles. And he was the Backup.

moving on, we're good at Center backup, but we'll take help at every position where we can get it.
