Favrow Contacted Early by Cowboys and Still Hoping

BROKEN ARROW – Since Choctaw quarterback Steele Wasel and his Class of 23 teammates did not pull it off in winning the Sooner 7 Classic this past weekend at Nienhuis Park then which team did? It was the Empire Villains from Kansas City. One of three teams there in the 18 and under class from the Empire complex in Kansas City, the Villains went 7-1 in winning the championship and outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7-to-13.3. In two games with the Sooner 7 18 under ’23 team they won 37-14 on Saturday and 36-10 in the championship on Sunday. One member of the Villains told me he really wants to be a Cowboy.

“Oklahoma State, that was the first school to reach out to me about recruiting after my sophomore season,” Favrow explained. “That was the school that first told me that I was an athlete that they would really want at their school, and that’s always been a dream school of mine.”

The dream has to live on both ends and believe me it lives on Favrow’s end. The 5-9, 195-pound back has the skill set with a 4.45 in the forty and a 290-pound bench press with a 475-pound squat max. Last season in just nine games, seven in the regular season and two playoffs game for Olathe West just outside of Kansas City he rushed 158 times for 1,168-yards and 13 touchdowns. He had a 7.4-yards per carry average. He also caught 12 passes for 45-yards and two more touchdowns.

Kansas State might make more sense and they have recruited but not offered like Oklahoma State. Favrow is a perfect example of the player with talent that may have to wait for a break all the way into his senior season. He might have to go the junior college route, which in Kansas is strong. Favrow may end up in small college or could end up as a Division I walk-on.

“Going to these seven-on-seven tournaments and working with these coaches and with these players and against this competition and overall competition while getting better is really good,” Favrow added.

Now it helps when you win the championship. Favrow is a talented player but he needs to have that coach see him that will fall in love with him.  It’s the process. A good student that wants to major in business. You can tell he loves to play and can do a lot of things. Again, this is a case that Oklahoma State saw something early, enough to contact Favrow. Now, he needs that school ready to offer to get in touch with him.
