In-State Four-Star 2023 Guard in Stillwater for Unofficial Visit
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball hosted an unofficial visitor on Thursday. 2023 four-star guard Jeremiah Johnson was in Stillwater with his dad checking out the facilities and the new-look coaching staff.
Johnson is a 6-2, 160-pound point guard out Norman North and is a four-star and top-20 overall prospect in the 2023 class, as well as the top prospect in the state. He currently holds five offers, Oklahoma State, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas and Tulsa, with Boynton and Co. being his first offer from July 2020.
His father tweeted out earlier this month Johnson would be taking multiple unofficial visits this month, so I’d expect trips to his other offer schools are in order.
He’s among one of the first visitors in Stillwater since the NCAA lifted the near 15 month in-person recruiting the start of this month.
Johnson made the move to Norman North from Putnam City North recently but was a star for PCN as he posted 15.7 points and 3.5 assists per game as a freshman and 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists a game as a sophomore, before he was shot on the night of Feb. 1, 2021. He had surgery to remove two bullets following the shooting and has since made a miraculous recovery and is poised to have a solid junior season.
I wouldn’t expect Johnson to be the last unofficial visitor this month in Stillwater. I would, however, expect recruiting for the Cowboys to pick up exponentially as Boynton and Co. are very aggressive recruiters and being cooped up for the last 15 months I’m sure has drove them crazy.
