Oklahoma State Offers Fast-Rising 2022 Prospect Out of Virginia

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State and Mike Boynton and Co. have extended an offer to a fast-rising prospect in the 2022 class. Justyn Fernandez, a three-star prospect out of Lynchburg, VA, announced the offer late last week.

Fernandez is a 6-5, 200-pound stretch out of Virginia Episcopal School and is a fast-riser in the 2022 class. He currently holds 27 offers, with all of them coming since the first week of June. He’s received offers from Oklahoma State, Boston College, Butler, Clemson, Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, Tennessee, Texas A&M, VCU and Virginia Tech among others.

This past season as a junior, Fernandez played in six of the nine games played by Virginia Episcopal School and was the team’s second leading school. He averaged 17.0 points a game, along with 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

He transferred from Monacan High School prior to last season, where he averaged 16.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He also averaged 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

While he currently doesn’t have a national rating, or a spot in the 247Sports composite rankings, it won’t be that way for long. Playing for DC Premier this summer, Fernandez proved he belongs in the conversation. He’s dominant down low and is a high-flier, which allows him to bring down rebounds or record putback dunks. He’s also a capable shooter from outside and is a physical and fast player with a high motor.

Fernandez would be a great addition to the 2022 class for Boynton and Co., which started last night with the commitment of Mansfield (TX) Legacy guard Quion Williams.
