Brenen Thompson Announcement Wednesday: What To Know About Decision

The Oklahoma State recruiting community got a little busy on Twitter today as news came out that elite 2022 wide receiver Brenen Thompson would be making his commitment decision at 7 PM Wednesday night live on CBS Sports HQ. 

Thompson will be choosing from his final three list of Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas A&M. 

The Spearman, TX, speedster made his official visit to Stillwater in early June, the first of his officials. From all sides, we heard the visit was a huge success and that the Cowboys impressed the whole family. Two weeks later, he made his way to College Station for an official and an unofficial in late July, but we have not heard much of the Aggies since. It was only three weeks ago that Thompson went on his official visit to Texas for the 58-0 win over Rice.

It is also important to know that Thompson made an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State on September 4 for season opener. Over the past weeks, it has seemingly become a two-team race between the Cowboys and Longhorns. 

Thompson has been seemed to be comfortable with the football side of things for quite a while for both Oklahoma State and Texas. The real thinking in this recruitment has come on the off the field side of things. Thompson is a small-town guy and likes it that way. He loves the outdoors, hunting, and fishing, which as all OSU fans know, means Stillwater is a good fit. 

Thompson has had plenty of conversations with people at each school feeling out the environment and vibe of the area. Stillwater seems to offer everything Thompson is looking for but Texas has made improvements in recent weeks in making Thompson see the same opportunities off the field in Austin. 

If Thompson committed to the Cowboys, he would join Talyn Shettron, Braylin Presley, and Mason Gilkey as the receivers in this class. Something to note is that there is only one receiver in Texas’ recruiting class at the moment. 

Thompson would also be among the highest rated recruits in this class with Talyn Shettron and Ollie Gordon ranked as Pokes Report 95+’s. Thompson is a 97 according to our in-house rankings.

I REALLY hope Thompson commits to the Pokes. Our Receiver's Room is already VERY loaded, but he would put it over the top. My only fear is that he may not see the Cowboys with as much current / future QB horsepower to leverage a full stable of high-caliber receivers. I sure hope that is not the case, though

BOO.. hiss...

We have more/better QB horsepower now.... coach just won't put him in.

can you imagine a drop back passer with that stable of receivers, and some promising future RBs (also in the class)

IMHO, the wild-card is the playcalling, and HC. (where we come up short, ATM, because of the mystery (allure) surrounding their HC hire).

Here's to hoping that rural works in our favor for once.

I hope people stop paying for these subscriptions for the recruiting content. It's a straight racket. 247 does the same thing. Write whole articles to reel fans in when they know already these kids aren't coming to us. Pokes report and nagel from 247 hyped us for for months before the summer leading up to a huge month of June and July and low and behold nothing has happened lol sure we got lucky shettron flipped cuz we offered his brother but glad I finally wised up. These dudes don't know they just get to talk to them sometimes. Now lots of the other content is awesome just don't fall for the recruiting

I subscribe to this site to support the guys and keep it going, not necessarily for recruiting info.

I gave up on listening to recruiting nonsense back when XLK did that whole TV show thingy with Miles and then showed up too crippled to even play - but nobody had said a word prior.

I don't place much value in the "star" systems either, which are pretty much complete nonsense also to sell subscriptions to those sites....

I do enjoy hearing what some of the kids have to say about OSU, but that's about the extent of it for me.

Yeah they stuff they do know about makes for some good reads. I stopped subscribing myself because I felt like I was paying for opinions and speculation as opposed to hard facts and knowledge. Pokes report is a good site just not for recruiting. Nagel does a q and a regular and they are sad man. Always I'll look into that or something of that nature. Robert Allen doesn't even comment back to people like they advertise anymore. Definitely not trying to slander them just hasn't lived up to what it was when it started so just a fair warning to people before they pay the money every month. You can just listen to the radio and get what ya need most of the time. Zach Lancaster is pretty much the only thing that stayed true to this website

hmmm..... okay...

it's only a few months old, I'm sure they're still going through growing pains and such. This site is much different, I believe, because it doesn't have a corporate sponsor, like they've had in the past, it is mostly a fan sponsored site.

I'd suggest giving it a fair shake and let them get settled in some before casting too many dispersions.... without a corporate infrastructure, ya know is just ain't easy.

What is it that you know about F5 Sports that has you making such statements?

Who pays the bills here, and how?

I completely understand your frustration, but I don't think you have a clue about how these things work.... (and my understanding is only likely only high-level organizational, at best).

24x7 (CBS) supports much of what Nagel does, and from what he's said pays his salary. He's a young guy (with no real prior experience) working his dream job. He gets lots of help and support from the 24x7 network of journalists.

I don't visit Rivals, I don't know of anyone who does since they closed their ghetto board a decade ago.

RA (and the guys) recently worked for Sports Illustrated, with all of their corporate infrastructure, etc.

RA took these 2 youngsters under his wing (my analogy) at 24x7, and at SI, and now again on this endeavor.... which is vastly different. I'm glad that RA looks out for the future of the profession and young guys along.

yeah... you're probably right...

I'm a bit old school, where I personally take offense when somebody is pissing in my friends cheerios in front of me simply because they believe their unfounded expectations were not met.... as opposed to contacting them personally and airing their grievances in private.

It has nothing to do with my skin...or with me. if you have a dispute with the proprietor then be honorable and take it up first with them in private, and give them an opportunity to address your grievances.

when you go onto somebody's work place and start telling everybody not to buy their product without even giving them a chance, then you've crossed the line of decency.

You definitely do you just only see things from your lense. Blah blah blah you are human like the rest of us you just hide behind your phone pretending to be better and more knowledgeable that's everyone else. Just because you say it is doesn't mean it is. I don't agree with a single thing you say. These dudes are not your friends. You are not some high level guy in society that has some advanced view on the sports world. You are a butt hurt fan that spends a large portion of his time arguing and beating up on people that you disagree with then turns around and acts humble. Whoever you are you seem fake man. Say I called you a name so we have that out of the way. You are just a regular dude. I would not like to talk sports with you. Basketball football none of that. I don't need to apologize because like you said this is a platform that they have given not you. I paid for this subscription since it started up until this month.
