Cowboy Baseball Enters 2022 With No. 5 Recruiting Class
STILLWATER – The future of Oklahoma State baseball certainly looks bright as they enter the 2022 season with the No. 5 overall recruiting class according to Collegiate Baseball.

Sitting atop the class is a top-100 prospect in Roc Riggio, who checked in at No. 94 according to Perfect Game. Riggio is a 5-9, 167-pound freshman out of Simi Valley, CA and Thousand Oaks HS. He was tabbed as the No. 25 overall second baseman in the 2021 class. Riggio was drafted in the 11th round by the Milwaukee Brewers but elected to head to Stillwater.
The Cowboys had also landed the No. 135 overall prospect Tyler Collins, but Collins was drafted in the eighth round and signed with the Atlanta Braves in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Looking at the 2022 roster, there’s a decent number of guys to be excited for. The first one we’re going to talk about is sophomore pitcher Justin Campbell. 6-7, 221-pounds, Campbell was one of the most productive freshmen during the 2021 season. A two-way player out of Simi Valley (CA) HS, Campbell was tabbed a freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball as he posted a 2.57 ERA with 107 strikeouts and just 27 walks. He gave up just three homers on the season, while hitting .269.
After missing more than a month in 2021, third baseman Nolan McLean is back and healthy for the Pokes. 6-3, 207-pounds, McLean had a solid freshman season both at the plate and in the field. He posted a .263 batting average with eight homers, 20 RBIs on 36 hits. He also posted a .953 field percentage with 62 put outs and just four errors.
The Cowboys picked up several transfers leading into this season, including a big-time home run hitter, Griffin Doersching.
Doersching is 6-4, 240-pound first baseman who won the college home run hitting contest in Omaha at the College World Series in 2019. This past season he set the season record at UNK with 20 home runs and hit .316 with 60 walks. He was top five in several NCAA statistics including home runs, walks, walks per game (1.04), home runs per game (.42), and slugging percentage (.772).
