Cowboys Have Two Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Selections
STILLWATER – The Big 12 released its preseason All-Big 12 basketball honors Wednesday afternoon and Oklahoma State had two selections.
Both Avery Anderson III and Mousa Cisse were tabbed Preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention.
Anderson III is coming off a much-improved sophomore season that got better as the season wore on. He finished the season averaging 12.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game but was electric the final six games of the season as he averaged 19.2 points on 52.6% shooting. While most people around the Big 12 knew about him, Anderson III had his national breakout game against No. 6 West Virginia as he posted a career-high 31 points on 11-of-14 shooting. He was also named to the All-Big 12 tournament team after posting 17 points in the win over then No. 10 West Virginia and 20 points in the upset of eventual national champs No. 2 Baylor.
He looks to be one of the Pokes’ primary ball handlers in the 2021-22 season and will also be one of the top scoring threats.
As for Cisse, he is a 6-10, 225-pound center out of Conakry, Guinea in West Africa. He was the AAC Freshman of the Year this past season for Memphis after he averaged 6.6 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. He also blocked 46 shots on the season and was just shy of becoming just the fifth Memphis player since 1992-93 to average at least 7.0 points and 7.0 rebounds a game.
He ranked seventh in the AAC in rebounding, was second in the conference in blocked shots per game at 1.6 and recorded four double-doubles on the year with six games with 10 or more rebounds.
