Lindy Waters III Signs Two-Way Contract With the Oklahoma City Thunder
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State standout guard Lindy Waters III is getting called up to the big leagues as it was announced on Thursday he was signing a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Should he see some time on the floor for the Thunder, he’ll be fourth former OSU player to play in the NBA this season, joining Cade Cunningham (Detroit), Marcus Smart (Boston) and Cameron McGriff (Portland).
Waters III, who currently plays for the Thunder’s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue, has played in 28 games this season with 14 starts. During that stretch, he’s averaging 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 steals per 19.9 minutes a game. He’s also shooting 48.8% from 3-point range, which is good for fourth in the G League.
Following his time in Stillwater, Waters III spent some time playing with a minor league team, the Enid Outlaws of The Basketball League, before signing on with the Blue.
Waters III played all four years of his time in Stillwater with the Pokes. He posted 1,152 career points in 121 games, which is good for 31st on Oklahoma State’s career scoring list. He averaged 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds a game as a senior, while shooting 38% from the field and 32% from 3-point range. His 177 career 3-pointers ranks 11th-most in program history.
