STILLWATER – In one of the more dominating performances we’ve seen this season, Oklahoma State rolled to an 81-58 win over West Virginia in Stillwater.
With the win, the Cowboys move back to .500 on the season, 12-12, and 5-7 in Big 12 play.
After falling behind 19-14 midway through the first half, thanks in part to solid 3-point shooting by the Mountaineers, the Cowboys turned up the pressure going into halftime, which included an 8-0 run to take the lead, 36-30, going into the break.
Following the fast start to the first four minutes of the game for WVU, the Cowboys held the Mountaineers to just 1-of-19 shooting from the floor over the next 11-minutes.
That hot streak continued after the break as the Pokes opened the second half on a 16-2 run to extend their lead up to 20, 52-32.
The Cowboys were dominant on the defensive end of the court as they outrebounded the Mountaineers by double, 48-24, with 34 of those boards coming on the defensive end. They also out-shot WVU 48% to 32%, and out-scored them in the paint, 40-16.
It was Moussa Cisse and Avery Anderson III who led the way for the Pokes, both scoring 18 points, which was a career-high for Cisse. He finished the game going 8-of-12 from the field to go with 10 rebounds to mark his third double-double of the season.
As for Anderson III, he was just 4-of-13 from the floor, but was 10-of-12 from the free throw line. He also hauled in seven rebounds and had two assists.
Bryce Thompson was also in double figures as he posted 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.
The Cowboys have a tough one next time out as they head up to Lawrence, KS, to face No. 8 Kansas on Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.
