Cowboys Split Season Series With 53-36 Win Over Iowa State

On their last road trip of the season, Oklahoma State played spoiler to Iowa State's senior day with a 53-36 win over the Cyclones. It was a much different outcome than the 84-81 OT game back in January, with the Cowboys holding the Cyclones to their lowest point total ever at home in Hilton Coliseum.

It also marked the fewest points the Cowboys have allowed in a conference road game since a 38-34 win over OU in Norman back on March 2, 1955.

With the win, the Cowboys moved to 14-15 on the season, 7-10 in Big 12 play. It also gave the Pokes their fifth win in the last six games against the Cyclones, the second-straight game up in Ames, IA.

It also marked the Cowboys first road win since they upset then-No. 1 Baylor in Waco, 61-54.

While it wasn’t the prettiest game of the season for the Cowboys, with the team combining for 22 turnovers on the night, they finished the game on a 17-3 run the final eight minutes of the game, while holding the Cyclones scoreless the final three minutes of action. They also held the Cyclones to just 28% shooting on the night, just 12% from 3-point range, while forcing 16 turnovers.

It was Avery Anderson III who led the way for the Pokes as he finished with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, with three assists and three turnovers.

Senior guard Bryce Williams was next on the stat sheet with nine points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor. Moussa Cisse was just two points shy of his sixth double-double of the season as he finished with eight points and 12 rebounds. He also finished with two blocks.

The Cowboys will put a bow on the 2021-22 season this coming Saturday as No. 12 Texas Tech comes to Stillwater for Senior Day. The program will be honoring both Isaac Likekele and Bryce Williams.
