Kalib Boone Announces Return for 2022-23 Season
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State will have plenty of depth at the big man position next season as Kalib Boone took to social media Wednesday afternoon to announce he’s returning for the 2022-23 season.
There was some speculation Kalib was going to enter the transfer portal following the departure of his twin brother, Keylan, on Monday.
Kalib has been a main fixture in the paint for Mike Boynton and Co. since arriving on campus prior to the 2019 season. While his numbers and playing time diminished down the stretch, he was still a solid producer this past season. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds a game, while recorded 33 blocks.
He posted multiple double-digit scoring performances in 2021-22, including a 12-point game in the 64-55 win over Oklahoma on Feb. 5.
His best season in Stillwater so far was his sophomore year. He set the program shooting percentage record at 64.2% a game, averaging 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds a game, while leading the Big 12 in blocked shots with 49.
With how Moussa Cisse, the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and Tyreek Smith improved as the season went along, the Cowboys should be set in the paint in 2022-23.
