STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is still on the hunt to add players to the roster and that search has wound up in New York.

Mike Boynton and Co. have reached out to St. Bonaventure transfer guard, Dominick Welch, according to a tweet from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

The Pokes are among a handful of schools who have reached out to Welch, including Kansas, Maryland, Pitt, Rutgers, Texas Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

Welch, a 6-5, 205-pound shooting guard out of Buffalo, NY, was a senior this past season and was one of the leading scorers for the Bonnies this past season. He played and started in 33 games and averaged nearly 38 minutes a game this past season, while posted 12.3 points a game on nearly 42% shooting from the floor.

He also shot nearly 38% from beyond the 3-point line and nearly 80% from the free throw line. He also averaged 6.0 rebounds a game.

He dished out 54 assists on the season, which would’ve ranked third on the Cowboys’ stat sheet this past season. So, while he’s not a point guard, he would certainly help fill some of the gap left by Isaac Likekele leaving.

The Cowboys recently received a commitment from High Point transfer guard, John-Michael Wright. This past season as a junior, Wright played in and started 32 games for the Panthers and averaged an impressive 18.4 points a game on 41% shooting from the floor. He shot 36% from 3-point range, making 65 of 179 attempts. He dished out 108 assists on the season, 3.4 assists a game, while recording 32 steals and averaging 4.4 rebounds a contest.

Scholarship players set to return next season is Bryce Thompson, Chris Harris, Kalib Boone, Tyreek Smith, Woody Newton, Bernard Kouma and Moussa Cisse, along with incoming freshman guard Quion Williams and now transfer John-Michael Wright.
