STILLWATER – The match-ups for this year’s Big East-Big 12 Battle are set, with Oklahoma State facing off against UConn, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

This will be the second time these two teams have faced off against each other, with the first coming as an 80-64 win over UConn in Dec. 1970.

This season will mark the fourth year of the Big East-Big 12 Battle, as well as the last year of the current contract between the two leagues.

Big 12-Big East Battle

  • Baylor at Marquette (11/29)
  • TCU vs. Providence (11/30)
  • Texas Tech v. Georgetown (11/30)
  • Kansas State at Butler (11/30)
  • Texas vs. Creighton (12/1)
  • Kansas vs. Seton Hall (12/1)
  • Oklahoma State at UConn (12/1)
  • Oklahoma at Villanova (12/3)
  • West Virginia at Xavier (12/4)
  • Iowa State vs. St. John’s (12/4)

This marks the first non-conference game announced for the Pokes in the upcoming season.

The Cowboys are coming off the 2021-22 season in which they went 15-15 overall, 8-10 in conference play. The Pokes fell to Xavier in Stillwater in last year’s Big 12-Big East Battle, 77-71, beat Marquette 70-62 on the road in 2020 and lost to Georgetown 81-74 in the first year of the Battle in 2019.

The Cowboys will have a much different looking roster come the start of the 2022 season. Bryce Williams graduated, Isaac Likekele hit the transfer portal and landed at Ohio State as a grad transfer, both Keylan Boone and Donovan Williams transferred to Pacific, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe transferred to Georgia and Rondel Walker has yet to decide on a landing spot.

On the other side of the things, Mike Boynton and Co. have brought in three transfers of their own: ULM’s Russell Harrison, Texas State’s Caleb Asberry and High Point’s John-Michael Wright.
