Oklahoma State is still in search of its first commitment of the 2023 class following the decommitment of Bixby (OK) HS sharpshooter, Parker Friedrichsen earlier in the cycle.

Well, they’re one step closer to possibly adding that piece as 2023 four-star forward Brandon Williams included the Pokes in his top five, along with Illinois, St. John’s, UCLA and UConn.

Williams is a 6-7, 205-pound forward out of Christ the King Regional in Queens, New York. He currently holds 14 offers during this cycle and has been on an unofficial visit to St. John’s, with an official visit to UCLA scheduled for August 2.

He’s currently ranked as the No. 136th overall prospect in the 2023 class, the No. 28th ranked power forward and the No. 1 overall player out of New York, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Williams players for the PSA Cardinals in the EYBL, where he averaged 11 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game this summer.

In an article with On3’s Joe Tipton, Williams had some high praise for Oklahoma State and Mike Boynton. “Oklahoma State has been recruiting me for a little while now. Mike Boynton being a New York coach and being from Brooklyn, I feel like being in his program I can trust him and believe in him to make me a better player. They’ve had people like me, for example, Cade Cunningham came through their program and did big things.”
