STILLWATER – Oklahoma State and Josh Holliday have been active in the transfer portal as the Cowboys landed a commitment from Arizona transfer, Noah Turley.

Originally out of Wasatch High School in Midway, Utah, Turley is a 6-4, 220-pound first baseman and was a sophomore for the Wildcats this past season.

He played in 50 games this past season for the Wildcats, starting in 43 of those appearances, 25 games at first base and 18 as the designated hitter, including starting 16 of 21 Pac-12 games. On the season, Turley hit .226, which included 37 hits and 26 runs scored, 32 RBIs, eight home runs with 63 strikeouts and 19 walks.

In Pac-12 play, Turley hit .215, scoring nine runs and 14 RBIs, four home runs and two doubles.

His eight home runs ranked fourth on the Arizona roster this past season, with his first of the season coming in his first at-bat against Kansas State on Feb. 18.

On the field side of things, Turley started 25 games at first base this past season, logging a .977 field percentage on 219 attempts. According to Arizona media relations, he also helped turn 19 double plays.

Prior to his lone season at Arizona, Turley played the 2021 season at Yavapai College, a community college in Prescott, AZ. As a freshman, he hit .417, scoring 56 runs on the season, and recorded 22 home runs, 12 doubles, one triple and drove in 69 RBIs in 52 games. Following the season, Turley was tabbed a NJCAA First Team All-American, as well as the ACCAC player of the Year.

There must be a typo error in this report about the transfer from AZ because the Cowboys surely do not want someone who hit .216? Can we get this clarified? It makes no sense to get a first baseman who does not make errors but cannot hit.

They've got to feel confident they can develop him at the plate. Get somewhere between his JUCO stats and what he did last year.
