Oklahoma State Adds BYU Transfer Pitcher

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Josh Holliday has brought another pitcher into the fold as he’s added BYU transfer, Janzen Keisel.

While Keisel announced his decision to transfer roughly 10 days ago, he joins a handful of players added to the Cowboys over the past several weeks, which include Cal Baptist outfield Chad Castillo, LSU infielder Brennan Holt, Arizona first baseman Noah Turley and St. John’s pitcher Brian Hendry.

Keisel checks in at 6-4, 185 pounds and is originally out of Gunnison, Utah, where he was ranked as the No. 1 prep prospect in the state in 2019.

As a freshman in 2022, Keisel played in 19 total games, starting in nine and finished with a 3-2 record. He threw 46.1 innings, where he recorded 58 strikeouts and 25 walks and gave up 46 hits and 22 earned runs, finishing the season with a 4.3 ERA.

He routinely hit 95-96 on his fastball, which he paired with a solid mid-80s slider.

Keisel is currently playing for the St. Cloud Rox, a team in the collegiate summer ball Northwoods League. He’s pitched in five games, starting in four, and thrown 15.0 innings, where he’s recorded 24 strikeouts, 11 walks and given up just three earned runs for a 1.80 ERA.

This is a solid addition to the rotation/bullpen for Holliday and Rob Walton.
