Amen Ogbongbemiga Declares for NFL Draft
STILLWATER – One of the Cowboys’ defensive leaders is going to try his hand in the NFL. Senior linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga took to Twitter Saturday night to announce his decision he’s declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.
He joins corner Rodarius Williams and fellow linebacker Calvin Bundage as the third defensive Poke to declare for the NFL Draft this season. On the offensive side of the ball, Chuba Hubbard, Dillon Stoner, Ry Schneider, Teven Jenkins and Tylan Wallace have declared for the NFL Draft.
Ogbongbemiga has been a catalyst to the defensive success of the Cowboy defense the past few seasons. This past season as a redshirt senior, Amen was one of the top defenders on the team with 80 total tackles, 50 of which were solo stops, as well as 5.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
As a junior, Amen recorded 100 total tackles, 63 of which were solo stops.
He leaves a big hole in the middle of Jim Knowles’ defense, a hole that’s not going to be easy to fill. However, senior backer Malcolm Rodriguez announced the day of the Cheez-It Bowl against Miami he would be returning for another season in Stillwater and Jim Knowles and Co. are high on freshman Mason Cobb. Senior Devin Harper has yet to make a decision on returning for another season, but he would be another huge piece to the 2021 puzzle.
