Oklahoma State Tied for Fifth in Big 12 Preseason Poll
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball is tied with Texas Tech for fifth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll, the Big 12 announced on Thursday morning.
The Cowboys were picked preseason fifth ahead of the 2021 season as well, which is the place they finished at with an 11-7 record in conference play.
Mike Boynton and Co. return eight scholarship players from last year’s team, including point guard Avery Anderson III, who was tabbed preseason All-Big 12 on Wednesday, Moussa Cisse, who was tabbed preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention, and Bryce Thompson.
Anderson III, who finished his junior season as a third team All-Big 12, is set for a solid senior season. He led the team in both scoring and three-point percentage, averaging 12.1 points on 40% shooting from the floor, 32% from three-point range, while also posting 3.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals.
Cisse was the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year last season as he led the league in blocks with 54. He started in 26 of 30 games for the Pokes and averaged 7.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and nearly two blocked shots per game.
As for Thompson, he played in 29 of 30 games last season with 26.2 minutes per game. He also averaged 10.6 points per contest with 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
The Cowboys kick the 2022-23 season off on Monday, Nov. 7 as they play host to UT Arlington. Tipoff is scheduled 8 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
