Oklahoma State Kicks Big 12 Play Off With Kansas Road Test
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball officially kicks Big 12 play off on Saturday, New Year’s Eve, with a challenging road test at Kansas.
Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and will be televised on CBS.
The Jayhawks enter the contest 11-1 on the season and ranked No. 4 in the country. They’re also ranked No. 5 in the NCAA NET rankings, having gone 4-1 in Quad 1 game. They’re averaging 78.8 points per game on 48% shooting from the field, while holding opponents to just 64.3 points per game on just 22.8% shooting.
Just like every other team in the country, there’s been some easy wins, like an 89-64 home win over Omaha or an 87-55 home win over Texas Southern. However, the schedule also features a 69-64 win over No. 7 Duke a 69-68 overtime win over a ranked Wisconsin team, who now ranked No. 15 in the AP Top 25.
The lone loss on the season came to then No. 22 ranked Tennessee, 64-50 in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Volunteers are now ranked No. 7 in the AP.
The Jayhawks are led by redshirt junior forward Jalen Wilson, who’s averaging an impressive 21.1 points per game on 40% shooting from the floor. He’s also shooting 35% from 3-point range and bringing down 9.3 rebounds per game.
Next on the stat sheet is true freshman guard Gradey Dick, who’s posting 15.4 points per game on 48% shooting from the floor. He’s also shooting nearly 50% from 3-point range, 48% on 34-of-70 attempts.
A guy who’s familiar to the Pokes is redshirt senior Kevin McCullar Jr., who also had a solid career at Texas Tech before transferring to Kansas. He’s averaging 11.9 points per game on 46% shooting from the floor and bringing down 7.9 rebounds per game.
Guard Dejuan Harris is also having a solid start to the season as he’s averaging 8.0 points and a team-high 6.8 assist per game. He’s also second on the team in steals with 2.7 per game.
