STILLWATER – Oklahoma State (9-5 overall, 1-1 Big 12 play) is set to face No. 6 Texas (12-2 overall, 1-1 Big 12 play) in Stillwater on Saturday, January 7. Tipoff is scheduled 11 a.m. CT and will be televised on ESPNU.
The Cowboys are coming off a 67-60 win over West Virginia this past Monday in Stillwater. Bryce Thompson led the way in scoring with 15 points, with Avery Anderson III (13), John-Michael Wright (11) and Kalib Boone (10) also finished with double figures. Boone and Tyreek Smith led the way with six rebounds apiece.

As for the Longhorns, they’re fresh off a 116-103 home loss to Kansas State. Guard Tyrese Hunter led the way with 29 points on 8-of-16 shooting, 5-of-9 from 3-point range. Marcus Carr was next on the list with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, 4-of-10 from 3-point range. He also finished with six rebounds and six assists.
It marked their second loss of the season, the first coming at the hands of a ranked Illinois team, 85-78 in overtime of the Jimmy V Classic.
As a team on the season, the Longhorns are averaging 84.1 points a game, while holding opponents to 66.5 points a game. They’re shooting at an insane clip, 49.7%, and 34% from 3-point range. Carr leads the way in scoring for the Horns with 18.1 points a game, while shooting 47% from the field and 45% from 3-point range. He also leads the team in steals with 26.
He’s scored nearly 100 points more than the next guy on the list, Tyrese Hunter, who’s scored 12.1 points a game. Hunter’s shooting 43% from the field and 34% from 3-point range.
The Longhorn’s are led in rebounds by Timmy Allen, a 6-6 senior forward. He’s bringing down 5.7 boards per game, while scoring 10.1 points per game. The Horns are also getting 10.0 points a game from Sir’Jabari Rice. Dillon Mitchell is also productive with 8.0 points and 4.8 boards per game.
