Game Flow

• Woody Newton started the scoring in the Lloyd Noble Center, giving the Pokes the early lead.
• After Newton’s bucket, Kalib Boone took over offensively, scoring eight-straight for the Cowboys to extend the lead to 10-2.
• Two deep mid-range jumpers from Moussa Cisse kept the Sooners at a comfortable distance as the Cowboys took a 18-9 lead into the under-12 media timeout.
• OSU forced OU into another timeout two minutes later after two massive alley-oop dunks from Kalib Boone as the Pokes went up 24-12.
• Bryce Thompson and Avery Anderson III took turns finding their way to the rim, adding six points each to keep the Cowboys up 35-24 with 3:30 left in the first half.
• The Cowboys shot 47 percent from the field and outscored OU 20-to-10 in the paint to take a 42-28 halftime lead. Kalib Boone led all scorers with 12 and Anderson and Thompson both added eight apiece.
• Back-to-back dunks from Kalib Boone gave him 18 points and extended the lead to 15 for the Cowboys.
• OSU’s defense held OU without a field goal for over four minutes, as the Cowboys continued to dominate on both ends of the floor. OSU led 56-38 with 12 minutes left.
• The Cowboys remained in control throughout the second half with OSU leading 69-55 with 3:15 left.
• OSU held down the lead until the end, never trailing throughout the contest as the Cowboys swept the season series against the Sooners with a 71-61 win in Norman.

Game Notes 

• Head coach Mike Boynton went with Avery Anderson III, Bryce Thompson, John-Michael Wright, Kalib Boone and Woody Newton as the starting-five for the fifth-straight game. The Cowboys are 3-1 since inserting Newton as a starter.
• Head coach Mike Boynton won his 100th game as the leader of the Cowboy program, becoming the fifth head coach in school history to reach the milestone.
• Kalib Boone continues to dominate the paint on both sides of the floor, scoring 18 points on 8-for-10 from the field while grabbing four rebounds and blocking one shot. Over the last three games, Boone is 22-27 from the field for a total of 54 points.
• Avery Anderson III has found a groove scoring the ball, reaching double-figures in five of his past six after scoring 12 against the Rebels. 
• In Oklahoma State’s last six wins, Avery Anderson III is averaging 14 points and 4.3 assists on 45 percent shooting from the floor.
• Woody Newton continues to play extremely well since being inserted into the starting-five, scoring five points and setting a career-high 10 rebounds on Wednesday.
• Boone, a Tulsa native, loves playing his in-state rival. In two games this season against Oklahoma, Kalib Boone posted a combined 33 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.
• Bryce Thompson reached double-figures scoring for the 30th time in his career with 11 against the Sooners. Thompson has been the Cowboys most reliable three-point shooter in conference play, knocking down threes at a 45 percent clip.
• In the two games against the Sooners this season, Thompson has scored 30 points with five made three-pointers, snagged 15 rebounds and dished out nine assists.
• Moussa Cisse tied a career-high 18 points against the Sooners in his best game since returning from injury. Cisse also added five rebounds and blocked a shot.
• OSU has found success on the offensive end lately, scoring 30 or more points in six of its last seven halves of basketball. OSU has reached the 40-point mark in three of its last five halves.
• As a team, the Cowboys have reached at least three blocks in all 22 games this season. OSU leads the Big 12 with 5.6 blocked shots per game, which ranks 10th in the country.
• The Cowboys lead the Big 12 and rank fifth in the country in FG percentage defense, holding opponents to 37.9 percent on the season. Wednesday was no different, as the Cowboys held Oklahoma to 35 percent shooting.
• OSU has held 18 of its 22 opponents to 35 percent shooting or less from the three-point line, and 13 of 22 have shot less than 30 percent. The Cowboys rank 26th in the country in three-point defense, holding opponents to 29.8 percent.

• Improved the Cowboys to 105-141 in the Oklahoma series, which dates back to 1908.
• Improved the Cowboys to 56-79 in the series when the two in-state schools are facing each other as conference foes.
• Improved the Cowboys to 98-98 in the series since the beginning of the Mr. Iba era (1935).
• Gave the Cowboys two double-digit wins over Oklahoma in the same season since the 2009-10 season when the Cowboys defeated OU 97-76 in Stillwater and 81-67 in the Big 12 Tournament.
• Earned the Cowboys a sweep for the second time in the past three years and the third time since 2017.
• Is OSU’s sixth win in the past seven meetings between the two schools.
• Is Oklahoma State’s second win in the last three meetings in Norman.
• Improved OSU to 13-9 on the year.
• Pushed Oklahoma State to 3-5 in true road games this year.
