STILLWATER – Oklahoma State (16-9 overall, 7-5 Big 12) is set to host No. 5 Kansas (20-5 overall, 8-4 Big 12) for a Valentine’s Day match-up in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and is being televised on ESPN.
The Cowboys have now won seven of their last eight games, including four-straight in Big 12 play. A win tonight would not only give them five-straight wins, but would more than likely move them into the AP Top 25 as they’re currently 31 based on votes received.
The Jayhawks took the first meeting between the two teams back on Dec. 31, 69-67, up in Lawrence. Bryce Thompson had a huge game against his former team as he dropped 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. John-Michael Wright was also very good as he dropped 19 points.
The Cowboys are coming off a huge 64-56 upset win over No. 11 Iowa State up in Ames, IA, this past Saturday. Guard John-Michael Wright led the way with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Bryce Thompson and Caleb Asberry were also in double figures with 12 points and 10 points respectively.
The Jayhawks are coming off a 78-55 win over Oklahoma, with Jalen Wilson leading the way with 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the floor. Dajuan Harris dropped 16 points on an impressive 7-of-11 shooting.
In Big 12 play, the Jayhawks are averaging 73.4 points a game on 44% shooting from the field and 35% from 3-point range, while their opponents are putting up 71.5 points on 42% shooting from the field and 34% from 3-point range.
Jalen Wilson has started 12 of 12 conference games for the Jayhawks and is leading the way with 20 points a game on nearly 42% shooting from the field and 38% from 3-point range. He’s also leading the way in rebounding with 7.7 rebounds a game.
True freshman Gradey Dick continues to have a stellar rookie season with 13.1 points per game on 43% shooting from the field and 37% from 3-point range. He’s third in rebounds with 5.2 per conference game.
KJ Adams Jr. is third in scoring with 11.6 points per game on an insane 60% shooting from the field. He’s also bringing down 4.3 boards per game.
