Oklahoma State Women's Hoops Streak Ends at Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end with a 66-57 loss against Kansas inside Allen Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, OSU dipped to 20-8 overall and 10-6 in league play.

The Jayhawks hit four of their first eight shots from the floor to hold an 8-6 lead at the halfway point of the first quarter. After the media timeout, OSU used a 5-0 run to move in front before Kansas tied the score at 13 apiece on a trey with 30 seconds to play.

The Jayhawks answered with an old-fashioned 3-point play to lead, 16-15, at the break.

KU used a 7-0 run to build a 29-24 lead five minutes into the second. The Jayhawks would extend the run to 14-2 and push the margin to double digits at 36-26 with 1:48 on the clock.
The Cowgirls used a quick 5-0 run to cut the deficit in half.

The first half saw 10 ties and seven lead changes before the Jayhawks ultimately took a 38-33 lead into the break.

Naomie Alnatas scored the first five points of the third quarter for OSU to cut its deficit to four. However, OSU would hit just one of its first eight shots from the floor in the quarter and trailed, 46-38, at the media break.

The Cowgirls endured a two-plus minute scoring drought, allowing the Jayhawks to once again push their lead to double figures at 53-42 with 1:49 to go in the period.

OSU would not score the final four minutes of the period, while being held to just nine points overall in the frame. KU would lead, 55-42, with 10 minutes to go.

The Cowgirls would not get closer than 10  until a minute remained in the contest.

Alnatas led OSU with 12 points, while Collins added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Anna Gret Asi chipped in with 11 points.

Oklahoma State plays at West Virginia on Wednesday, March 1 before coming back home to finish the Big 12 regular season with Bedlam Saturday, Mar. 4 at 2 p.m.
