John-Michael Wright to Return to OSU For Additional Season

STILLWATER – Another piece to the 2023-24 roster puzzle for Oklahoma State men’s basketball is in place as John-Michael Wright is using his extra year of eligibility and returning for one more year.

John-Michael Wright will join the guys on the Pokes Report Podcast this week to discuss his decision to stay another year, as well as the rest of his basketball journey.

The senior guard out of Fayetteville, N.C. was third in scoring this past season for the Cowboys as he finished with 9.9 points in 30.1 minutes per game. He started Big 12 play red-hot as he dropped 19 on Kansas in Allen Fieldhouse, shooting 40% from the field and 44% from 3-point range. He then scored 11 against West Virginia on 57% shooting from the field and 50% from 3-point range. That’s where things dropped off for just a bit as he combined for just 23 points over the next six games.

While it was a loss down in Austin, Wright shined in the second match-up against the Longhorns as he dropped 18 points on near-40% shooting from both the field and 3-point range.

Wright did, however, finish the season scoring in the double-digits in 10 of the last 17 games. He finished the season shooting 36% from the field, 34% from 3-point range and 81% from the free throw line.

Other than Caleb Asberry and Bernard Kouma, every scholarship player on the roster has at least one year of eligibility remaining. While we’re still waiting on confirmation from several players who could return for at least one more season, or enter their names into either the portal or NBA Draft process, Wright’s return is a big one for Mike Boynton and Co.

YEA

LOL as if he had other options?

He did improve a lot in the last few weeks, after he got more PT. I think he could be a valuable piece next year with his years of experience and now that he knows the system.
