STILLWATER – Another Oklahoma State basketball player has entered the transfer portal. Junior wing Woody has entered the transfer portal, a source tells Pokes Report.

Newton is the fourth OSU player to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season, joining guard Avery Anderson III and centers Kalib Boone and Moussa Cisse.

A 6-9, 195-pound wing, Newton has spent the previous two seasons in Stillwater after he transferred from Syracuse. He should have two years of eligibility remaining.

This past season as a junior, Newton started in 13 of 29 games, while averaging 4.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He also recorded seven blocks.

Senior guard John-Michael Wright announced he’s returning to Stillwater for his final season in 2023-24, as did soon-to-be-sophomore guard Quion Williams.

The duo of Tyreek Smith and Bryce Thompson still have eligibility and have yet to make an announcement about next season. They also have the option of entering their names into the transfer portal, though both players transferred to Oklahoma State, Smith from Texas Tech and Thompson from Kansas.

Chris Harris Jr. suffered a third knee injury towards the end of the 2022-23 season. He still has one year of eligibility and the program will honor his scholarship should he decide to return for one more year.

Boynton and Co. also signed five true freshmen in the 2023 signing class: four-star forwards Brandon Garrison (Del City) and Eric Dailey Jr. (IMG Academy), Jamyron Keller (Killeen Ellison), Justin McBride (Plano) and Connor Dow (Broken Arrow).
