Report: Javon Small On Campus This Weekend
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to host East Carolina transfer guard this weekend, according to a report from Travis Branham.
Small was originally set to visit Stillwater earlier this week, but Pokes Report learned he travelled back home after suffering a dental emergency over the weekend. He was in Norman visiting OU this past weekend.
Small checks in at 6-2, 180 pounds and played and started in 18 games for the Pirates this past season as a sophomore. In that short amount of time, Small led the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game on 40% shooting from the field. What’s more impressive is that he finished the season with an impressive 100 assists, which also led the team.
He also shot 85% from the free throw line and 33% from 3-point range.
While the Cowboys desperately need consistent 3-point shooters, the need for a point guard who can direct the flow of the offense, while dishing out 100 assists in just 18 games, is much higher up on the priority list.
The Cowboys do, however, return John-Michael Wright for his final season of eligibility, who finished the 2022-23 season averaging 9.8 points per game on 36% shooting from the floor, as well as 72 assists. His 72 assists were third on the team, behind 93 from Bryce Thompson and 75 from Avery Anderson III.
