MANHATTAN, Kan. – Oklahoma State dropped its second game of the series against Kansas State Saturday as the 15th-ranked Cowboys took a 7-2 loss at Tointon Family Stadium.

With the loss, OSU fell to 25-14 and 10-7 in Big 12 play, while the Wildcats improved to 24-14 and 9-8 in the conference.

The setback marks OSU’s first series loss to Kansas State since 2010.

Ian Daugherty homered and had two hits for the Cowboys, while Carson Benge was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Brian Holiday took the loss on the mound to fall to 3-3. The right-hander worked six innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out seven.

K-State took the game’s initial lead in the second on a leadoff home run to right field by Raphael Pelletier, his eighth homer of the season.

Pelletier did it again in the fourth, leading off that inning with another solo shot to put the Wildcats up 2-0.

After being shut out and held to just one hit over the first 5 1/3 innings by K-State right-hander Jackson Wentworth, the Cowboys cut their deficit in half on Daugherty’s fifth homer of the season, a pinch-hit blast over the left field wall.

K-State got the run back and then some in the bottom of the inning. This time it was a double by Pelletier that got things starter, and he would score a single by David Bishop to put the home team up 3-1. The Wildcats added to their lead on a two-run homer by Jaden Parsons to go up by four.

The Wildcats added two more runs in the seventh, with OSU’s final run coming on a double by Benge in the eighth.

Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
