I could use a little preview of the team, I am more than a bit concerned.
Oklahoma State Basketball To Host SMU for Charity Game in Gallagher-Iba Arena
STILLWATER – With the change to the NCAA rules around scrimmages and closed practices, we’ll get a chance to watch some Oklahoma State basketball before the start of the season.
Head coach Steve Lutz joined Robert Allen on Triple Play Sports Radio on Wednesday morning and said Oklahoma State will host SMU for a charity game in Gallagher-Iba Arena. While the date hasn’t been officially announced, the game will take place between September 23 and the start of the season on November 4.
“The NCAA has a really interesting and weird rule, you count back 40 days from the first start date, which is against Wisconsin-Green Bay, and you get 32 practices in those 40 days. So, really when September 23 hits, we’ll be in full bore. We’ll have a couple of scrimmages in October, one with Wichita State at Wichita State and one with SMU at home. Wichita State will be a closed scrimmage, and SMU will be a charity game. That will be in Gallagher-Iba.”
While Lutz didn’t have the official date, he did tell us it will be on a Saturday.
This will be the first time the Pokes have been involved in a game like this. The Cowboys will also be traveling up to Wichita State for a scrimmage in the next few months.
While it won’t be an official game, this will give us our first look at the new-look Cowboys, which features 10 new players out of the transfer portal.
