Watch: Mike Gundy's South Dakota State Postgame Press Conference
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State started the 2024 season off on the right foot on Saturday as they beat South Dakota State, 44-20.
The Cowboys rushed the ball 38 times for 127 yards, with Ollie Gordon II carrying the ball 27 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Alan Bowman had one of his best games as a Cowboy as he went 25-for-34 with 267 yards and three touchdowns.
Mike Gundy met with the media following the game and had a lot to say about the Pokes’ performance against the Jackrabbits, including the running game.
“I thought we were average running the ball today. Now, they play good defense. They always have, and they understand principles of inside leverage. You know, I’m going to take the run away. I’m not going to let this guy block me, then I’m going to rally and defense the pass. They’re really good at it. That’s why hardly anybody scores on them in their games.
But I didn’t think that we ran the football as well as we should’ve in my opinion.”
