Lindy Waters III Shines In Golden State's Comeback Win Over New Orleans
Former Oklahoma State star Lindy Waters III is quickly making a case for more minutes with the Golden State Warriors as he scored 21 points off the bench in the Warriors’ 124-106 comeback win over New Orleans.
Lindy played 31 minutes, shooting 8-of-13 from the field, which included 3-of-7 from 3-point range, with eight rebounds, four assists and a steal.
"I just ground myself, I'm grateful for what I have, so I can't be greedy and have a bad attitude coming in," Lindy said after the game. "Whether I get playing time or not, I'mma be the same person every day. I'mma always have a smile on my face. I'mma encourage my teammates, and whatever my role is that day, I'll accept it. I just want my team to win."
Head coach Steve Kerr was asked about Lindy’s performance and wanting to get him more minutes moving forward. Kerr started his quote off by joking they were going to move to a 13-man rotation from just playing 12 guys.
"I've said it since day one of camp, this guy's a ball player," Steve Kerr said of Waters III after the game. "Game flows when he's out there. It's not just because he's a good shooter, he's a good basketball player. It's the shots that he doesn't take. Because of his patience, it's the cuts that he makes to the basket, it's getting into a fight defensively.
"From day one of camp, this guy has been one of our best players frankly but couldn't get him out there till tonight. He's going to make his case for more playing time. I'm just happy to have this kind of depth for nights like tonight when we are missing three guys, and it will pay off big time for us over the course of a year or two."
With that performance, Waters III is now averaging 8.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists per game, while shooting an impressive 68% from the field.
Waters III signed a partially guaranteed two-year contract with the Warriors over the summer worth around $2.9 million, with $2.2 million during this season.
