STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowboys kicked the Steve Lutz era off with an 89-76 win over Green Bay on Monday evening.

Bryce Thompson led the way for the Pokes with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, while Abou Ousmane led the way in rebounding with eight boards. He also scored 16 points.

Head coach Steve Lutz met with the media following the game to talk about the highs and the lows.

Some of those lows were how Green Bay shot the ball.

“We gave up 58% [shooting] in the first half,” Lutz said after the game. “We gave up 41% [shooting] in the second half and still 37% from the three. You're not gonna win games that way. I know we won tonight and I know that we were great in rebounding, wr were great at shooting free throws, we took care of the ball for the most part, but you're not going to be able to play that kind of defense and win in the Big 12, you're just not. You're kidding yourself if you think if that's gonna happen.”
