Mike Boynton Pays Homage To Eddie Sutton After Big Win and Players Say Team Has No Ceiling

After such a massive win of the Cowboys taking down the No. 1 seeded Baylor Bears to advance to the Big 12 title game, there are plenty of reactions coming from players, coaches, and certainly social media.

During the postgame press conference, Cade Cunningham and Isaac Likekele spoke with the media about the game against Baylor as well as the future for the Cowboys, both tomorrow night and beyond. 

Mike Boynton also took the time out to explain why tonight’s win meant so much to him including making a connection to Eddie Sutton.

“Just the joy of the kids because they’re so bought into each other and with knowing that today would have been Coach Sutton’s 85th birthday and winning the way we did,” Boynton said on his favorite thing he saw in the game.

“What this program is today versus March 24, 2017 when I took over, those are just the things that go through my mind on why I feel so encouraged that we’ve got this thing on the right track.”

Isaac Likekele also spoke for a while with the media on his performance as well as the team’s overall performance. 

One of his best quotes came after being asked if he thought the team had hit their peak or was close to it. 

“If you ask me, this team doesn’t really have a ceiling,” Likekele started. “I don’t want to put a limit on us. I feel like every day, we can just get better and better. Whenever you have a peak, that means you have certain limitations but for us, I believe we have no ceiling. 

Getting better and better is certainly what the Cowboys have been doing this season, especially the last month of play. About two weeks ago, Oklahoma State was on the outside of the rankings but is now about to crack the top 10 and is on the verge of a locking down a 3-seed in the NCAA tournament.
