Oklahoma State Honors the Ten With 83-73 Win Over Colorado
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Remembered the Ten the best way they knew how: a 10-point win over Colorado, 83-73.
With the win, the Cowboys moved to 10-7 on the season and 2-4 in Big 12 play.
Senior Bryce Thompson had one of his best games of the season as he finished with 15 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the floors and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.
Chi-Chi Avery also had a really good offensive game as he finished with 15 points as well, which included an impressive poster dunk with just under three minutes left in the game to put the Pokes back up by 15 points, 79-64.
The Pokes finished the game shooting 46% from the floor, 35% from 3-point range and 74% from 3-point range. The Cowboys outrebounded the Buffs 36-23, including 13-3 on the offensive end.
The Cowboys had one of their best first half shooting performances of the season against the Buffs as they went into the break shooting 43% from the floor, 50% from 3-point range and 80% from the free throw line.
But it was a long first half for both sides as they combined for 26 fouls, 10 of which were called on the Pokes, allowing the Buffs to go a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity stripe. While the Cowboys shot 80%, they were 21-of-26 from the line as the Buffs recorded 16 team fouls.
The Buffs started the second half with a quick 6-0 run, with Thompson hit the Pokes’ first bucket of the half nearly four minutes in to make it a 45-38 game. The Buffs kept it single digits to start the half, with the Cowboys responding to just about every bucket.
But the Cowboys pulled away with five minutes left in the game by going on a 7-0 run, four of which were fast break points, to make it an 18-point game, 76-58.
The first eight minutes of the second half was much like the first as the two teams combined for 11 fouls. Less than five minutes later, the two had combined for 19 fouls.
The game finished with the teams combining for 50 fouls, the Cowboys finishing the game going 31-of-42 from the line and Colorado 22-of-25.
