No. 25 Oklahoma State Dominates No. 12 Kansas State Start to Finish With 85-55 Win
STILLWATER – It was a record-setting day for No. 25 Oklahoma State as the Cowgirls rolled over No. 12 Kansas State from start to finish for an 85-55 win.
With the win, it tied the school record for the largest margin of victory over a ranked opponent and moved the Cowgirls to 19-4 overall on the season, 9-3 in Big 12 play and 14-1 at home. It also marked just the third loss on the season for the Wildcats, their second in Big 12 play and just their second lowest point total on the season.
It also marked the Cowgirls third win over an AP Top 25 opponent this season.
"I think we are also one of the best teams in the country," Cowgirls head coach Jacie Hoyt said after the game. "When we're all playing and at our best, that's what it looks like. It looks like today. It was fun to get back to Cowgirl basketball today."
The trio of Anna Gret Asi, Stailee Heard and Micah Grey dominated the day for the Pokes, leading all scorers. Asi led the way with 24 points on an impressive 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. What makes that stat even more impressive is all eight of her buckets came from behind the 3-point line.
Asi also finished with a team-high six rebounds.
Heard finished with yet another double-double on the season with 21 points and 11 boards, all coming on the defensive end. Micah Grey finished with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor.
The Cowgirls were red-hot from the field in the first half as they shot 56%, which included going 12-of-21 from 3-point range.
Those stats led to the Pokes going into halftime with an impressive 31-point lead, 51-20.
The Wildcats started the second half with a 10-0 run, before the Cowgirls turned it back on and pulled away.
The Cowgirls are back in action this coming Wednesday night as they play host to Arizona.
