Oklahoma State Hosting North Texas Tuesday In NIT Quarterfinals
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is hosting its second NIT quarterfinals game in Gallagher-Iba Arena in the last two seasons on Tuesday night as the Pokes play host to North Texas.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN2.
The Mean Green is the two-seed in the Dallas Regional and is coming off a 65-63 home win over Arkansas State. As for the Cowboys, they went down to Dallas and beat top-seeded SMU, 85-83.
The Cowboys are now back to .500 on the season and just recorded their first back-to-back wins since they beat Tarleton State and ORU back on December 18th and 22nd.
This will be the second time the Cowboys and Mean Green have faced each other in an NIT quarterfinal game in GIA as the Pokes fell to a Grant McCasland and Tylor Perry-led team, 65-59 in overtime. Perry dropped 23 points on the Pokes en route to an NIT championship with a 68-61 win over UAB.
Bryce Thompson is the only player who was on the roster then for the Cowboys and he finished with six points, three rebounds and four assists. Thompson has been a catalyst for the Pokes down the stretch this season as he scored 23 points in the win over Wichita State and 24 points Sunday against SMU.
The Cowboys currently have five more wins than they did last season, while having two more wins out on the road. We’ll have a more in-depth preview on the game tomorrow, but the Cowboys have had a lot of success on the white maple and are 13-3 at home this season.
