Redshirt Sophomore Defensive Back RJ Lester Enters Transfer Portal

STILLWATER – The first player of the spring to enter the transfer portal happened on Wednesday as Pokes Report can confirm defensive back, RJ Lester, is no longer with the program.

Pokes Report also learned Lester told the coaching staff two weeks ago he was planning on entering the spring portal as soon as it opened. So, he hasn’t been at practice.

Lester is a redshirt sophomore out of Fort Smith (AR) Northside, who had played sparingly the past two seasons. 

He played in 12 games in 2024, primarily on special teams, recording three total tackles, including one solo stop, which came against Tulsa. He had an assisted stop against BYU and TCU. 

This opens up another roster spot for Mike Gundy and Co., who just brought in Appalachian State offensive tackle, Markell Samuel, and Marshall wide receiver, Chrisitan Fitzpatrick.
