Oklahoma State Announces The Hiring of New Assistant Coach Dana Valentine
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz has a full coaching staff again as he’s added former St. Bonaventure assistant coach, Dana Valentine.
"I believe in surrounding our student-athletes with great teachers and even better people, and Dana fits that mold perfectly," Lutz said in the release from OSU athletics. "He brings infectious energy, a passion for teaching, and a proven ability to help players maximize their potential. We're excited for the impact he's going to make here in Stillwater."
Valentine spent the past two years with St. Bonaventure, where he helped them to back-to-back 20-win seasons, working with wing players.
He’s familiar with the Cowboys’ incoming freshman big man, Ben Ahmed, as he was the head coach at Putnam Science Academy from 2018-21 but spent five years with the program. Ahmed was a sophomore when they won a national title in 2022-23. But there’s more familiarity with OSU and Valentine as he coached Abou Ousmane in 2018-19 and Arturo Dean in 2021-22.
While not coaching the team on the court, Valentine served as the school’s director of compliance and coordinated travel, valuable skills he’ll be able to use in Stillwater.
Valentine joins Lou Gudino, who came to Stillwater after three years as the associate head coach at Ball State.
