STILLWATER – Mike Boynton and Co. sent out a flurry of offers out over the weekend in the 2023 and 2024 classes, including a couple out to local kids. Mike Boynton has had some good success recruiting local kids over the past few seasons, including Kalib and Keylan Boone and Rondel Walker.

The offers went out to 2023 Del City, OK and Team Griffin forward Brandon Garrison, and 2024 guards Vyctorius “VJ” Miller and Tre Johnson. Miller plays AAU for West Coast Elite out of California and Academy of Sports Science HS in Pasadena, CA and Johnson plays for Team Griffin out of Oklahoma and high school out of Lake Highlands HS in Dallas, TX.

We’ll start with Garrison. He’s a 6-8 foward out of Del City, OK in the class of 2023 and was instrumental in helping the Eagles to the 2021 6A state title this month. He currently holds offers from Oklahoma State and Tulsa, but OU is also showing some interest and by the time the spring and summer AAU circuits’ over, I’d have to think Garrison’s stock will soar.

Next up is 2024 guard Tre Johnson out of Lake Highlands in Dallas, TX. Johnson’s a 6-5, 180-pound shooting guard and currently holds offers from Oklahoma State, Alabama State and Prairie View A&M. Houston has also shown interest since last summer.

This is what 247Sports recruiting expert Brandon Jenkins had to say about Johnson.

“Johnson may be the best prospect in the state of Texas for his class simply because of his ability shoot the basketball. When you watch his release and rotation on his shot, it is of sound fundamentals. Johnson is an excellent shooter with three-point range mostly off the catch but can make scoring plays off the dribble as well. He has an advanced scoring package for his age and understands how to create his own shot without wasted motion. Johnson is low-maintanenced and already possesses the maturity and discipline of someone beyond his years. He is a young prospect loaded with natural talent and long-term potential.”

As with Garrison, I’d expect Johnson’s stock to soar by the end of the spring and summer AAU circuits.

Next is Vyctorius “VJ” Miller out of Academy of Sports Science in Pasadena, CA in the 2024 class. He’s a 6-5, 170-pound shooting guard and as of May 2020, Coast 2 Coast Preps had him ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in the class. He currently holds six offers, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal Poly, Georgetown and Wake Forest.
