STILLWATER – Oklahoma State star Cade Cunningham picked up even more National Freshman of the Year honors on Friday. The National Association of Basketball Coaches tabbed Cunningham as the top freshman in all the land.

Previous winners of the award include UCLA’s Lonzo Ball in 2017 and Duke’s Zion Williamson in 2019.

Cunningham finished his freshman season averaging 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, earning him Big 12 Freshman and Player of the Year honors.

This marks the fifth major national freshman of the year award for Cunningham, who’s also earned the honor from USA Today, the Sporting News, as well as earned the wayman Tisdale Award from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and the Kyle Macy Award from College Insider.

CBS Sports also named Cunningham its Freshman of the Year on Friday.

He’s also been tabbed a finalist for the Naismith Trophy, the John Wooden Award and the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year award.

Cunningham earned the program’s first Associated Press First Team All-America honors following the season. He’s also been tabbed an All-American by the NABC, USA Today, CBS Sports, the Sporting News, The Athletic and the USBWA.
