STILLWATER – Eric Morris and Co. has added another edge rusher out of the transfer portal with James Williams out of Florida State.

Williams checks in at 6-6, 262 pounds and entered the transfer portal after just one season with the Seminoles. In 11 games, six of which were starts, Williams recorded 19 total tackles, three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. PFF credited him with 23 quarterback pressures.

USA TODAY Sports

He transferred to Florida State from Nebraska, where he had a great 2024 season, recorded 14 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. He followed his defensive line coach from Nebraska, Terrance Knighton, who was hired at FSU.

According to multiple articles from when he entered the transfer portal, Williams will have at least one more year of eligibility, with the possibility of having at least one more after that due to JUCO rulings.

Williams is originally out of Park Hill South and Parkville, MO. He spent one year at Iowa Western C.C. before two seasons at Nebraska.

247Sports lists Williams as the No. 25 edge rusher out of the portal.

Williams is now the 33rd player added out of the portal by Morris and Co.
