Oklahoma State Beats Princeton 82-68 For First NCAA Tournament Win Under Jacie Hoyt
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls beat Princeton 82-68 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament for the first tournament win under head coach Jacie Hoyt. It also marked the first tournament win for coach Hoyt.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 24-9 overall on the season and will advance to the Round of 32.
Junior Achol Akot led the Pokes with a double-double of 28 points, a season-high, and 10 rebounds. She was nearly perfect from the field on 12-of-15 shooting from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
Jadyn Wooten also had a double-double with 18 points off the bench on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor and 10 assists, 1-of-1 from 3-point range and 1-of-1 from the free throw line.
Micah Gray had 16 points and Haleigh Timmer with 10.
The Cowgirls shot an impressive 52% from the floor, nearly 50% from 3-point range on 9-of-19 shooting and 82% from the free throw line. They outrebounded the Tigers 35 to 25, with 24 coming on the defensive end, but turned it over 13 to 10.
