STILLWATER – Oklahoma State was one of the best teams in the country this past weekend as the Cowboys were named the Pop-Tarts Bowl Crazy Good Team of the Week following the 39-31 upset of No. 6 Oregon.
It was a great day in Stillwater from the very beginning of the game as the Pokes’ defense forced a three-and-out, which set up a 75-yard run for Drew Mestemaker.
Other than two tipped passes that were intercepted leading to 14 points, the Cowboys kept their foot on the gas. They finished with 554 total yards of offense, 317 yards through the air from Mestemaker and 237 yards on the ground. Mestemaker finished with 109 rushing yards and one touchdown, with Caleb Hawkins leading the way with 110 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries.
The Pokes’ offense combined for 25 first downs, 6.7 yards per play, 12.2 yards per completion and 5.9 yards per rush.
The defensive side of the ball held Oregon to 281 total yards of offense, 191 through the air and 90 on the ground.
